now that it’s full on summer around in NYC, the last thing i want to be doing is sitting indoors, and have been spending lots of time out on the beach, laying in the backyard in the grass, eating lots of grilled food, and drinking fruity cocktails.  hence the sparse posting around here.

these past weekends out at the greenport house, i learned that….

• you can grill a pizza (actually on a grill)
• raccoons are confident (and scary) little rascals
• peaches + champagne is delicious
• making people imitate raccoons is hilarious
• packs of wild dogs roam small towns

ok, now on to the clothes part.  lately, i’ve been feeling pretty uninspired by dressing up and have no interest in shopping.  this morning i just threw on the things laying next to me with the most color….and anything that i could find that would match pastel floral shoes.

it’s been so snowy and wet and horrible out, that i was finally able to take some inside-photos again.  my friend, gina’s apartment makes the most lovely little backdrop.

this dress was a fun little gift from the gilt groupe.  i had such a hard time picking out what i wanted because every day new treats would appear.  i’m such a sucker for ruffles though, so i went with the frilliest…and of course, black, dress.

joelle says it looks just like a 50s style ruffly apron…as a dress.  and i think she’s right.

my dress is not too dissimilar from this apron.  frills on the shoulder, tie around the waist, full skirt….

…so i started thinking what other kitchen garments could be made into fulltime clothes and in my search, i came across these adorable aprons.  i love the ones at the bottom with the triangle edges and layered colors.  i could completely see these aprons transformed into a dress/skirt.  maybe a new diy project?
