noel vallens: in my leisure suite

vintage blazer peach shirt

in new york, it’s the equivalent of the magical hour in terms of weather.  warm, sunny and just chilly enough to wear a bit of layers. so it’s time for little blazers and transition-wear like shortsleeve sweaters or quilted mini-skirts which literally has a window of about 3 weeks before it gets too hot.

i feel very 70s in this one…which i’m attributing to marc jacobs, but more in a pants way than joelle’s interpretation via swooshy skirt and flowy blouse.  it’s also the perfect time of year to find the perfect little blazer/shorts set, like the one below from the marc jacobs fall 2011 collection.

also, my current (non-fashion related) project right now is reviving what i consider to be my “crochet masterpiece”.  it’s a crochet hexagon blanket, made of about 16 colors, where there are 4 colors for each hexagon x a million hexagons, made out of fingering weight yarn in a tiny needle. it’s going to be years before i finish!

noel vallens: giveaway winner // red all over

so, first of all.  we have a winner of the lovely brook&lyn necklace giveaway — Ms. Leslie Hitchcock!  yay!

now, on to the outfit.  even though i don’t have a habit of posting it very often, red (and wearing red) is one of my favorite things.  this vintage dress was a gift from my friend annie…and I couldn’t have customized a dress to fit any better than this one.

to give the red some more fall/autumn colors, I thought it went nicely with some textured gray tights and sandals left over from this summer. and paired it with a suede fringe bag and a little art deco bow ring that I made (and a few are available in the shop).
