i’m going to keep this post very quick today. i’m trying to finish my work at a fevered pace so i can enjoy a ‘summer friday’ schedule. i wore this outfit to a work meeting earlier in the week. i’ve had the jcrew dress in my closet for probably 2 years without ever wearing it. i had wanted it for the longest time based on the nice catalogue photo, and finally my mom got it for me as a gift. in person, the dress that i was led to believe would be a perfectly fitted silk shift dress, was actually a silk sack. now, suddenly, i kind of like it that way.

i usually hate posting work outfits, but that has been the reality of the past week. the lipstick i’m wearing is a new one- laura mercier’s tangerine- and i really enjoy it. it isn’t so over-the-top orange like a lot of lipsticks are this summer, and while it is bright, it’s a little less intense than the standard red. with the outfit i’m giving off a ketchup and mustard vibe, but i promise the lipstick is worth a try.

with all the awful rain in NYC, i’ve been going on and on about my love for my gryphon trench coats. the trench in the post below is my go-to jacket for any weather, but i’m always jealous of my dear friend may kashahara’s extensive collection of leather jackets (again, i have a hard time finding one that fits me well).

so, i was THRILLED when this week, on a quick trip to loehmann’s, i found this suede gryphon jacket balled up on top of a random rack of umbrellas (what i was *supposed* to be shopping for). i put it right on and it fit perfectly!

bonus: it is also a twirler.

i’m wearing my new jacket with this amazing K necklace that noel found for me- she was disappointed that there was no way to make the K work with her name. lucky for me, it’s my last initial. the C pendant was an xmas gift from my mom.

today’s bag is my balenciaga purse in ‘truffle’. this is my favorite balenciaga shape, which was unfortunately discontinued after just 1 year.

and my shoes are marc by marc jacobs.

i love the ties on the back.

here’s hoping the rain stops soon so i can wear this jacket some more without fear of ruining it!
