noel vallens: casual friday aka T.G.I.F.

madewell jeans and american apparal red shirt with bass weejuns

given that joelle and i work in a typical office setting, we are lucky enough to not have any constraints around dress code or any limitations on what we can wear.  the only price we pay is some stares from our boss, and maybe an odd comment here or there.  i mean, some co-workers wear t-shirts with cartoons on them to work.  are turbans, mixed prints, and crinoline skirts really that out of place?

given this freedom, i typically don’t wear jeans on friday, just out of protest of ‘casual friday’ denim acceptance (and the taunting i get from my freelance boyfriend on friday mornings “oooh, whatcha gonna wear?  get out those jeans! it’s casual friday!”) but i sort of love jeans and want to wear them every day, so i broke my own rule.

this is sort of my everyday, typical wear.  tight-fittin’ jeans, some sort of button-up shirt, and lately i’ve been loving to wear jeans that are a bit too short with some fancy socks.  i recently found these bass weejuns, which are sooo perfect, but unfortunately they run a little big and they sort of feel like clown shoes.  i think i may be putting these up for sale on etsy soon….so sad. the socks are from a recent shopping binge at hansel from basel sale that i went a little nuts at.  ($3 hansel from basel socks, whaat?)

in any case, here’s my boring, typical non-anti-casual-friday outfit.  have a great weekend everyone!

(also, last night, i just finished knitting up my new stripey sweater.  soooo excited!  i should be posting pictures and the pattern VERY soon………!)
