noel vallens: red on fire

first of all, i’m a few days late…but i’m so happy to announce the winner of the peter pan collar giveaway!  the winner is….Chie! She has a fantastic blog and makes lots of wonderful things herself.  Congrats!

Ok, now on to today’s outfit.  so, my absolute favorite color is red so you can imagine how happy this sweater makes me.  it is SO bright.  i promise i didn’t tweak any saturation settings here.  i literally feel like a cartoon when i wear it.  even on the way out to take these photos, i was wearing a coat over it and only a tiny bit was peeking out, and a jogger actually spotted it from a block away, and jogged back over to me to comment on it.

i’m not exactly sure when i developed a passion for the color red, but it’s funny that almost all of the males in my family (my dad and all of my uncles) are obsessed with it.  is it possible to have a familial gene for a predisposition to favor a color?  my mom said that when they were building my house, my dad insisted that at least one room of the house have red curtains.  and my uncle picked out a bright red christening dress for my little cousin (aren’t those things supposed to be white?)

a week or so ago, i read about these cheap monday clairvoyant sunglasses online, and realized two things — they are $37 (!) and they are only carried at alter which is literally steps from my apartment.  which means i can be cheap AND lazy.

the rest of the outfit here tries to balance out the bright red with some earthy browns and camels. and my favorite shoes of the moment!
