joelle van dyne: gilty

a couple weeks ago i mentioned our meeting with two of the ladies from gilt groupe, and how excited i was due to my OBSESSION with their site- like, i do NOT like to be away from my desk at noon EVER, because that’s when their sales start. during that meeting i happened to be wearing one of my dresses from gilt, and now there are photos up on the gilt blog, with a little interview! by the way, if you’re not already a member of their site, email us, and we’ll send you a link so you don’t have to wait on the list.

since it’s getting chilly, i retired my furry vest for a day to give my old navy leather hoodie some attention. this jacket was all the rage with the ladies on fashionism a couple years ago, since, well, it’s leather, is cut in the mike and chris style that was popular back then, and was around $25 after sale stalking- win!
however, black leather jackets are really not my style. at all. i love them on other people, but have a very hard time picturing one with my typical outfits, and also a hard time wearing this one.

to try to make things easier for me and the hoodie, i had the idea of sewing some kind of frilly lining, maybe in hot pink, to make it feel more ‘me’. i was specifically looking for a thin, ruffly nightgown to source for fabric, when i ran into this little white number from la perla. to me, it’s a sweater, but actually it’s meant to be a bathrobe. either way, it’s gorgeous, and warm, and fits perfectly under my jacket.

my boots, at $30, seemed to be a fun cheap purchase when i bought them, but after walking 3 blocks in them, i realized that $30 was actually too much for them- they are THE most PAINFUL shoes i’ve ever worn. that 3 block walk left me with cuts all over my ankles for a week. once that’s healed i’m going to try filling the inside of them with pads, but if that doesn’t work, out they go. it’s unfortunate since they are quite cute, no?
